Engendering Game Design Talent: Diversity in UK Game Higher Education

In this qualitative analysis of the everyday realities of students and instructors in games higher education in the UK, Alison Harvey considers the existing opportunities for fostering greater inclusivity as well as barriers to diversity in talent development. Drawing on interviews with key stakeholders as well as promotional and policy materials, this project aims to understand how the ideal gamesworker is constructed and reified as well as how working patterns and practices are structured in the present and envisioned in the future. Insight from this project has recently been published in an article in Television and New Media, and in a forthcoming edited collection on Independent Videogames.
